FHPS Summer Academy

Summer Academy 2020

Due to the COVID-19 pandemic, no in-person offerings are available this summer at Forest Hills Public Schools. However, multiple online options exist. As always, prior to enrollment, please check with your school counselor to determine appropriate course selection(s) and complete a self-paid course form.

Class Options

Virtual Learning Courses: Michigan Virtual University

For the student who is taking a course for the first time in order to advance. Content and instruction are delivered by Michigan certified, highly-qualified teachers in a virtual learning format. In addition, an FHPS teacher will be assigned as a mentor and provide virtual support. These include Andy Evans for math, and Kristy Butler and David Fouch for all other courses. In order for the course to be placed on the FHPS transcript, a self-paid course form must be completed and all final exams must be proctored by an FHPS staff member. Further information will be provided in early July.

Registration Begins: June 1, 2020
Registration Deadline: June 19, 2020
How to Register: enjoylearning.com (Payment by Visa or Mastercard only)
Cost: $350 per course
Dates: June 8-August 14, 2020 (No FHPS virtual support the week of July 6)
Class begins online: June 8, 2020

Note: If you enroll in an online course directly with MVU, your final exam must be proctored by one of our summer academy staff members in order for credit and your grade to transfer to your FHPS transcript. There is a $25 proctor fee that must be paid prior to taking the final exam. The last day to have exams proctored is August 14 (see above).

Online Credit Recovery through Edgenuity (e2020)

For the student who has previously attempted and failed a course for high school credit. Content and instruction are delivered by Edgenuity through its virtual learning platform. Optional virtual support is offered by FHPS teachers Andy Evans, Kristy Butler, and David Fouch. In order for the course to be placed on the FHPS transcript, a self-paid course form must be completed and all final exams must be proctored by an FHPS staff member. Further information will be provided in early July.

A variety of courses are available, including but not limited to Algebra I and Health. Please check with your school counselor, who must enroll you.
