FHPS Summer Academy

Class Registration

Important: Registrations are not accepted by email. Registration for Summer Academy is through the FHPS Community Enrichment department. If you need to register by phone, call 616-493-8950.

Register for Classes

Registration will begin on May 7, 2025 through enjoylearning.com. This year, Summer Academy will be located at Northern High School (see map).

Class Options

In-Person Algebra 1

An FHPS math teacher will be the instructor. Class content is taught in two semesters.  This course can be taken for credit advancement or for grade improvement. The class will meet on the days and times shown below. The cost is $275 per session.

  • Semester I Session: (first-semester content) June 9 – July 10 (Mondays through Thursdays, 8:30 a.m. to 12 p.m.), excluding the week of June 30 – July 4
  • Semester II Session: (second-semester content): July 14 – August 8 (Mondays through Thursdays, 8:30 a.m. to 12 p.m.)
  • Location: Northern High School
  • Cost: $275 per semester
  • Registration Deadline: June 9, 2025
Register for Face-to-Face Algebra I

Virtual Learning Courses: Michigan Virtual University

These courses are for the student who is taking a course for the first time in order to advance.  Content and instruction are delivered by Michigan certified, highly qualified teachers in a virtual learning format.  In, addition, a FHPS teacher, that is associated with our Summer Academy program, will be assigned as a mentor and provide virtual support.

Prior to enrollment, the student should check with their school counselor to determine the appropriate course selection.

In order for the course to be placed on the FHPS transcript, a self-paced course form must be completed and all final exams must be proctored by an FHPS staff member. When you register for online classes through this website your proctored final exam is included in the course’s price.

To enroll, have the desired course title and semester (either suggested by the school counselor or obtained by perusing the MV site’s class list) at hand. Next, go to the Summer Academy class options (select the red enjoylearning.com link below), and from the list of courses, choose Credit Advancement (at the student’s high school). In the registration notes field, list what class and semester the student would like to take. Then, proceed to the payment screen. Once payment is made, the student’s registration is completed.

    • Registration Begins: Wednesday, May 7, 2025
    • Registration Deadline: Friday, May 30, 2025
    • Classes Begin/End Online: Begin: May 20, 2025, and End: August 8, 2025
    • FHPS Support Dates: Monday – Thursday, July 10 – August 7, 2025, and Friday, August 8, 2025.
    • FHPS Support Times: 8:30 a.m. – 2:00 p.m.
    • FHPS Support Location: Northern High School
    • You must have your final exam proctored on or before August 8, 2025.
    • Cost: $360 per course per semester (includes final exam for course credit). VISA and MasterCard only accepted for payment.
    • Drop Refund: Full refund for courses dropped by June 13, 2025.  Call us for details if you enroll after June 13, 2025.

Online Credit Recovery through Graduation Alliance

For the student who has previously attempted and failed a course for high school credit.  Content and instruction are delivered by Graduation Alliance through its virtual learning platform.  Optional support is provided by FHPS teachers who are associated with our Summer Academy program. All final exams must be proctored by an FHPS Summer Academy staff member for the credit to be listed on the student's transcript. A grade of "credit" or "no credit" will be issued for each course taken.

Prior to enrollment, the student must check with their school counselor to determine the appropriate course selection.  

  • Registration Begins: Wednesday, May 7, 2025
  • Registration Deadline: Thursday, July 10, 2025
  • FHPS Support Dates: Monday - Thursday, July 10 - August 7, 2025, and Friday, August 8, 2025. 
  • Support Times: 8:30 a.m. - 2:00 p.m.
  • FHPS Support Location: Northern High School
  • Your final exam must be proctored on or before August 8, 2025.
  • Cost: $150 for one course - $210 for two courses.
