Language Immersion Enrollment Process
Students enter the program through one of two ways:
1) Through Siblings
Families who currently have enrolled immersion students, or have immersion alumni siblings, are eligible for the sibling registration. Sibling registration begins on Nov. 30, and ends Dec. 18, 2020, at 4 p.m. To register this way, families must bring the following to the school office listed at the bottom of each form:
- Completed pre-registration form
- birth certificate (original, with raised seal)
- and two proofs of residency (For acceptable proofs of residency, please see the Enrollment page)
All forms must be submitted in person.
If the pre-enrollment form is not submitted by Dec. 18, 2020, at 4 p.m., late submissions will be added to the in-district lottery.
2) In-District Lottery
New student lottery registration begins Monday, Jan. 4, 2021, and ends on February 5, 2021. (Due to inclement weather, the deadline has been extended until Monday, Feb. 8, 2021.) Interested FHPS resident families must bring the following information to the school office listed at the bottom of each form:
- Completed pre-registration form
- Birth certificate (original, with raised seal)
- and Two proofs of residency (For acceptable proofs of residency, please see the Enrollment page)
All forms must be submitted in person.
The computer-generated, random lottery will be conducted at the FHPS administration office on Feb. 12, 2021. Acceptance and waitlist informational letters will be sent to families on Feb. 19, 2021.
If the pre-enrollment form is not submitted by the deadline, late submissions will be added to the end of the waiting list.
In-District Lottery Process
Once the lottery has taken place, a letter will be sent out to all applicants to notify them of their acceptance or placement on the waitlist.
Those who receive notification that they are on the waitlist will be informed in the letter of their place on the waitlist. In order to remain on the waitlist, the student must remain a resident in the FHPS attendance area.
If on the waitlists for both programs, students may remain there until they receive an invitation to join either program. Once a student has accepted an invitation to join one of the two programs, they will be immediately and permanently removed from the other program’s waitlist.
At the end of the school year, families who are left on the kindergarten waitlist will be asked if they wish to be considered for the first-grade waitlist. They will be added to the first-grade waitlist in the same relative order in which they were on the kindergarten waitlist. The waitlist will be dissolved at the culmination of the first semester of first grade.
FHPS resident students who are able to pass a target language performance/proficiency assessment may remain on a waiting list past the end of the first semester of first grade.
