Are you looking to enroll a new student in the FHPS district for the upcoming school year and live outside of the FHPS district boundaries? The Schools of Choice application window is approaching. Schools of Choice is how families living outside the FHPS district can have their student(s) attend FHPS. FHPS participates in the Kent County Collaborative Schools of Choice Program. At the time of application, families must physically reside in one of the Kent ISD school districts, but not in the Forest Hills Public School District.
Every year, FHPS receives more applications than available openings. Therefore, applicants are selected through a random drawing or lottery. To ensure a smooth process for a family living outside of the FHPS district, please take a moment to review the timeline and important requirements below.
Key Dates for Your Calendar
The application window is firm, so we encourage families to set a reminder:
- Applications Open: Monday, April 13, 2026, at 8 a.m.
- Applications Close: Friday, May 15, 2026, at 4 p.m.
Important Reminders
To help you avoid any enrollment hurdles, please keep these two critical points in mind:
- Siblings are not automatically enrolled. Even if you already have a child enrolled in the FHPS district through Schools of Choice, their younger siblings are not automatically enrolled. A separate application must be submitted for every new student, and each must participate in the lottery process.
- Deadlines are final. To keep the process fair for everyone, FHPS cannot accept any applications after the window closes on May 15 at 4 p.m.
