Background of the 2023 Bond Proposal

thanksIn November of 2023, the Forest Hills Public Schools community approved a bond proposal to provide $340 million to fund capital improvements through 2031. The Forest Hills Public Schools 2023 bond proposal had three key components: modernize learning spaces to prepare students for the future, improve athletics, fine arts and community facilities to enhance experiences, update infrastructure to address aging systems and inefficiencies. FHPS Aquatic Center Timeline

  • November 2023 – The FHPS community passed a $340 million bond for campus-wide improvements, including a new aquatic center serving FHPS students and the community.
  • Spring 2024 – Forest Hills and the aquatic center team hold design and programming meetings with district and community stakeholders to identify swimmer, staff, and community needs, ensuring the new aquatic center reflects both practical needs and the shared vision of the community.
  • Fall 2024 – Forest Hills and the aquatic center team complete the design development of the aquatic center.
  • November 2025 – The FHPS Board of Education approves the aquatic center construction contracts.
  • Late Fall (Dated TBD) – Formal groundbreaking ceremony of the new aquatic center
  • Fall 2025-Spring 2028 – Construction duration for the new FHPS aquatic center, with an anticipated opening in early July of 2028. FHPS students, staff, and community members will enjoy a state-of-the-art facility for years to come.
