SAVE THE DATE: 2014-15 School Orientation & Orientation Dance

Date:  Wednesday, August 20, 2014
Location:  Northern Commons

Times………………………
Freshmen:  7:30am
Senior: 9:30am
Junior: 12:00pm
Sophmore: 2:00pm

Orientation packets will be mailed home in August.  Please complete the necessary paperwork and have your student bring it to their scheduled orientation time.  They will only be able to complete the orientation process when the completed paperwork has been turned in.

FHN Student wins Gates Millennium College Scholarship

GRAND RAPIDS, MI – Sophie Delacurz and India Dunning, two seniors from Grand Rapids and Forest Hills, are among 1,000 students to have earned the Gates Millennium scholarship that will cover all the costs of attending the college of their choice.  The Gates scholar can attend any college or university in the country. The scholarship is renewable up through a doctorate degree in specific fields and carries an estimated value of up to $350,000. Students can also study abroad. Read more

Congratulations Gerald R. Ford Essay Challenge Winners

Congratulations to Kallen Schwark and Michael Aaberg!  Kallen took 2nd place in the President Gerald R. Ford Essay Challenge and Michael took 1st!  There were over 600 entrants.  20 students make it to the finalist status and were recognized last night at the Awards Ceremony.   Congratulations to FHN teacher, Jennifer Kigar as well as she worked with both students in preparing them for this contest.

Congratulations FHN Science Olympiad Team

The Forest Hills Northern Science Olympiad Team competed in the regional tournament at Grand Valley State University.  The team earned medals in 9 of the 23 events on their way to a tenth place finish out of 23 teams.

The 9 medals included two first place, two second place, one third place, two fourth place, one fifth place, and one sixth place.

Medal winners were: Kallen Schwark, Emily Schafer, Noor Sohail, Noah Lee, Kaitlyn Kettner, Emily Pool, Sharath Sundaram, Victoria Spiegel,, Bendan Nee, and Sam Elwell.

FHN Mock Trial Wins Big at the Western Region Tournament

FHN Mock Trial A advances to State after winning the Western Region Tournament helped by a power move from our newest group Mock Trial B

Team A won the region and is headed to the State Tournament. It got a big boost when Team B laid a big hit on the reigning state champs during the third round taking one of their ballots
