NHS Senior Portraits – YEARBOOK SPECS
Congratulations on making it to your senior year at Forest Hills Northern High School!
Here are some common questions & answers about senior pictures for yearbook use. Please read them carefully, as we do not wish anyone to be excluded from the senior section of the yearbook!
- What should I do first about pictures and how soon should I do it?
Call a photographer immediately and get a sitting time scheduled for summer. The whole portrait-taking process sometimes takes MONTHS through our local photographers, which means you should have your picture taken no later than July 31. After that there is no assurance that the photographers can get us a copy of your photo in time. The yearbook staff must meet publishing deadlines that are not flexible.
- What are the yearbook picture specifications?
- Size: 2” x 3” photo (required – digital preferred); 300 minimum DPI
- Finish: Glossy
- Recommended Pose: Head-and-shoulder shot looking at the camera, preferably vertical, but we can crop a horizontal shot.
- Recommended Background: Traditional, neutral (blue, gray, brown), & solid background.
- What is the due date for senior pictures:
October 3, 2016 is the deadline for turning in your senior portrait.
- What if I can’t afford the sitting fee or the picture packages?
Have your picture taken on the Student Picture Day (Tuesday, September 6, 2016). There is no sitting fee and there is no obligation to purchase their pictures. This is an inexpensive and fast way to finish the whole picture-taking process. The Yearbook staff would be happy to take a photo of you as well. Come see us as soon as school starts to schedule a session.
- What if I decide to take my own picture with my own camera?
Any self-taken portraits must follow the guidelines above and be high quality. However, please be aware that we reserve the right to refuse any pictures that do not look professional or appropriate for the yearbook.
- What will happen if I do not turn in a senior picture at all?
Yearbook staff will use your school ID picture, if available. If not, you will not be featured at all.
- When & where do I turn my senior picture in?
Turn them in to Mrs. Damuth’s room (W7) at any time up until the October 3, 2016 deadline.
- Can I turn in a digital image?
YES! Since the yearbook is done almost entirely on the computer, we would greatly appreciate your image being submitted either on a CD (turned in to Mrs. Damuth in W7) or via email to the yearbook staff at firstname.lastname@example.org. We prefer JPEG format and the picture must be at least 300 dpi resolution.
Just a reminder: please plan on turning in your senior quote by this same deadline (to Mrs. Damuth in W7 or the yearbook staff at email@example.com).
