FHE’s Kids Food Basket Club

February 10, 2022 Posted In: Eastern High News

FHE’s Kids Food Basket Club received special recognition for its continued support and donation to KFB.  The group donated over 1000 pounds of food recently.  The club was originally created by EHS students, Natalie Mouw and Sreejay Ramakrishnan, under the guidance of Doreen Barnes, KFB Club adviser, in 2020. More than 40 students of all grades meet on Fridays after school to plan, coordinate, and promote awareness on childhood hunger in our community.  The club focuses on two large events each year.  Students held a competitive “food raiser” in the fall, in which they competed to bring in the most food from the KFB wish list.  In March, students will focus on a  KFB Spirit Week, T-shirt sales,  and KFB After-school bash.  All proceeds benefit Kids Food Basket which feeds students within the larger Grand Rapids community.
