With more than 63% saying “yes,” Kent County voters on Tuesday renewed and restored the 0.9 mill regional enhancement millage, a levy that has provided funding for all 20 K-12 public school districts in the Kent ISD area for the past eight years. Voters approved the proposal 64,402 to 37,612, according to unofficial Kent County results. The enhancement millage renews 0.8498 mill, first approved in 2017, which expires in the 2026-27 school year, and restores 0.0502 mill that was reduced as required by state law–allowing a total of 0.9 mill to be levied for another 10 years. All precincts within the Forest Hills Public School district approved the proposal. The approval will generate approximately $357 per student or over $3.1 million annually for FHPS. FHPS uses these funds to support student programming and to recruit and retain teachers.
