FHPS school nurses have been receiving many questions regarding what the district’s guidelines are regarding current COVID protocols. Per the Kent County Health Department, MDHHS and the MDE, the current COVID Guidelines are:
- + COVID Test: The individual should stay home and away from others until symptoms improve overall AND there has been no fever (without the use of fever-reducing medication) for at least 24 hours.
- Exposure to a + COVID Person: The individual should monitor their health, test if symptoms develop, and stay home if a fever is present. The person can return to work/school when they are fever-free for 24 hours with no fever and symptoms are improving (without the use of fever-reducing medication).
This is outlined on page Page 8 and page 15-16 of the Managing Communicable Diseases in School document from the Kent County Health Department & MDHHS document linked below.
Please remember that children should stay home if their temperature is 100 degrees or more. They must be fever-free for 24 hours without medication before returning to school. Should you have additional questions, please contact your health care provider or email one of the district nurses: Sara Gruber and Ann Lepech.
