Mandarin Immersion Program Celebrates the Year of the Dragon

February 13, 2024 Posted In: FHPS District News

Students at Meadow Brook Elementary rang in the Lunar New Year with games, crafts, and festivities. This yearly tradition allows students to fully immerse themselves in the culture.

The day started with games in the gym, chopstick practice and jianzi, and special crafts for the kindergarten through 2nd grade students.

The celebration featured an all-school assembly where Taiko drums and Dragon Dancers put on a display for the kids. Multiple grade levels put on singing and recorder performances.

Other activities, like crafts, calligraphy, and jump roping, wrapped up the remainder of the day for 3rd and 4th graders.

This event promotes a sense of community and an appreciation for the rich cultural heritage behind such activities.
