Eastern cell phone tower update

At the Forest Hills Public Schools Board of Education meeting held on Monday, January 15, 2024, the FHPS administration recommended the FHPS Board of Education postpone consideration of the cell tower lease to a later meeting this school year. This will allow the district time to answer additional questions from the board and the community and explore other options to address the safety and security concerns due to the lack of cell reception at the Eastern campus. The board unanimously agreed to postpone consideration of the cell tower lease to a later meeting this year. We will keep you apprised of additional updates as they become available.

FHPS held a community presentation and Q&A session at FHE on JAN. 11, 2024, regarding a proposed cell tower. The following is the link to the slide deck presented at the meeting.

Background Information:

Safety and security are always at the forefront of our school community. To help address the lack of cell service on the campus of Forest Hills Eastern Middle/High School and Knapp Forest Elementary School, the district is looking at the opportunities a cell tower will provide. Staff, students, families, and residents are invited to attend a presentation featuring a Q&A session with district personnel, school administrators, and the FHPS director of school safety and security, among others, regarding a cell tower on the property at FHE. The meeting will be held on Thursday, Jan. 11, 2024, at 6:30 p.m. in the FHE auditorium.
