April 2014

Dear Collins’ Families:

This has been one long winter.  Hopefully, our April will be more Spring-like.  I hope that you are able to relax during your Spring Break.  Before we know it, this school year will be over.

The Collins’ staff enjoyed seeing you during conferences in February and March. Conferences are essential to be able to share student data and progress.  Teachers worked very hard during those 2 long nights to provide feedback and student suggestions.  Thank you to Mrs. Christopher and Mrs. Gundry for coordinating the Book Fair.  Also, the staff enjoyed the delicious dinners that were provided by our very generous families.

Remember to continue to read with your children and work on math home-links to reinforce the learning from school.  Each student should be doing about 10 minutes for every grade (K,1=10 minutes, 2nd=20 minutes, 3rd=30 minutes, and 4th=40 minutes) each night for homework.  Anything above that can lead to frustration for students.

Our Jump Rope for your Heart Program raised almost $1,000.  Thanks to Mr. Maczinski and all the families that were able to donate money to the wonderful cause.

Looking Forward to Spring,

Mitch Balingit
