VOLUNTEERING IN OUR SCHOOLS

Volunteers are at the heart of the Forest Hills community. From classroom helpers and field trip chaperones to event support, so much of what makes our schools special is made possible by family and community members who give their time. Whether you have an hour or a whole season to share, there’s a place for you in our schools.

What to Expect When You Volunteer

To help keep our schools safe, a background check is required for volunteering. Fill out the volunteer form for your school’s attendance area. If you are volunteering at Goodwillie or the Transition Center, please fill out the district volunteer form. Questions about volunteering? Contact your school’s main office — we’d love to have you.

SCHOOL CLOSINGS & NOTIFICATIONS

When school is closed, announcements will be made on local radio and television stations. There will be an automated message sent to families via SchoolMessenger using telephone, email, and text. Closings and delays will be posted on social media platforms such as Facebook, and will be posted on the district website. When school is closed due to winter weather conditions, all after-school activities for the day will be canceled unless indicated otherwise by the superintendent. In the event of early dismissal, notice will be immediately provided via SchoolMessenger, the district’s website, and local media stations.

When school is closed, all programs run through Community Enrichment and our Aquatic Center are closed.

Receive FHPS Text Messages

We offer a SMS text message notification service to Forest Hills families that have students enrolled in the district. To opt in to receive SMS messages from Forest Hills, simply text “YES” to 67587.

STUDENT INSURANCE

Optional student medical insurance is available for families who want additional coverage. This voluntary plan can help cover out-of-pocket medical costs from everyday accidents or injuries, whether they happen at school, at home, or elsewhere, giving families extra peace of mind. This coverage is secondary to any student or family medical insurance.
