In Forest Hills Public Schools, we are dedicated to and are driven by our vision of all learners achieving individual potential. In our district’s two dual-language immersion programs, we adhere to this district’s vision in two languages. Whether your avenue is Early-Total Spanish Immersion or 50/50 Immersion in Mandarin Chinese, there are pathways to bilingualism and biliteracy through immersion education, beginning in kindergarten, here in FHPS.
The district’s two kindergarten language immersion programs are available to any incoming kindergarten family residing within the FHPS district. Regardless of the FHPS attendance area in which you reside (Northern, Central, or Eastern), families have the opportunity to apply to the language immersion programs. The language immersion programs are “housed” on the Northern side of the district and follow the Northern schools. The Mandarin Chinese immersion program begins at Meadow Brook Elementary School, and the Spanish immersion program begins at Ada Vista Elementary School. From there, students follow the path throughout Northern Trails 5/6, Northern Hills Middle School, and Northern High School.
Tours for families interested in learning more about the programs begin in December. Sibling enrollment is currently available. If you have an incoming kindergartner and want to learn more about the language immersion programs, be sure to familiarize yourself with all the dates and deadlines, and sign up for a tour. Here is more information about both language immersion programs.
