MSU band director shares her expertise

September 9, 2024 Posted In: Fine Arts

Members of the 7th and 8th grade bands, Symphonic and Wind Ensembles to participate in this years first annual clinic day here at FHC! We are extremely fortunate to be hosting Dr. Arris Golden Dr. Golden is the Assistant Director of Bands at Michigan State University. Dr. Golden is one of the best music educators in the country right now. She has decades of experience teaching bands in North Carolina. She has worked with some of the most modern and popular composers to write middle school and high school band literature. Dr. Golden is a great educator who shares her passion and expertise in music with every student she interacts with. This once-in-a-lifetime experience will be invaluable for our incredible band program.
Dr. Golden will be working with our students in a clinic format where students will play prepared music and receive immediate feedback on their playing from Dr. Golden. Each concert band will have 30 minutes with Dr. Golden, to play their piece and then to work with her in a clinic format. Each group will then watch the other groups by sitting in the audience of the high school auditorium to be able to learn from each other. This incredible opportunity is made possible by our fabulous band boosters organization.
This event will be October 8th, 1:30 -3:30 in. the FHC auditorium.
