FHPS Releases First Community Budget Guide

May 22, 2024 Posted In: FHPS District News

Forest Hills Public Schools is pleased to release its inaugural Community Budget Guide (CBG). The goal of the guide is to help educate the Forest Hills community on the basics of how the school district is funded and how the district spends its funds. The CBG provides detailed information on the district’s budget, revenues, expenses, fund balances, and financial practices and highlights the district’s commitment to exceptional education, valuing staff, and strong financial stewardship. Additional items in the budget guide include school budget basics, comparisons to other districts in Kent County and “like” districts within Michigan, trends, community support, capital projects, and more. It also contains a glossary of terms to help individuals understand acronyms and other terms specific to public school education. Finally, the guide also addresses some challenges the district faces and how these challenges will be navigated with transparency.

The 2023-2024 Community Budget Guide is available in PDF format. Click on the image below to access the PDF and/or to download the document.

The cover of the Community Budge Guide with the FHPS logo, and three pictures, one of recent graduates and their parents, one of a child coloring with crayons, and another holding up a book they wrote. There also is a border that looks like curves and waves on the top and the bottom in a navy blue, medium blue and gray.

Finally, we would like to hear from our community. With the first edition of the CBG, the district hopes to gather input from our community on what is helpful in the guide and suggestions for improvement for the next edition. To provide your feedback, please complete this quick online form.
