Educational equity and inclusion work occurs daily in our buildings to ensure that every student feels like they belong. While every staff member is committed to a framework of diversity, equity, inclusion, and belonging, the district supports this work through four key groups of individuals:
- Shared Voices Committee: This council provides the critical student voice for our district’s equity and inclusion work. Comprised of students from our three high schools, it provides ideas, input, and feedback to move the work of inclusion and belonging forward.
- Equity Community Council: This council is made up of families from all three attendance areas (elementary/secondary), a board, and a community member who will support and advise the district’s ongoing equity work. The council seeks to identify opportunities for families to be engaged in our DEIB offerings.
- Equity, Culture, and Belonging Coordinators: Made up of FHPS-certified teaching staff, this team supports teachers, students, and administrators in the daily building, promoting and fostering an inclusive culture focused on belonging and ensuring equity in student achievement and experiences.
- District Equity Leadership Team: Currently made up of district leadership team members, it creates, maintains, and supports the implementation of decisions to ensure each learner receives what they need to reach their potential. Future plans include expanding this team to include building administrators, coaches, and teachers.
