Math Teacher Serves Country and Serves Students; Local News Covers Story
Forest Hills Eastern High School math teacher, Darren Tanis, is always there for his students. He received a phone call that his unit with the National Guard was being deployed to Washington D.C. following the riots at the U.S. Capitol building. He was being sent to Washington to help ensure the inauguration was peaceful and he continues to be on duty during the impeachment hearings through March. While on duty, Tanis is still creating math videos and connecting with his students so they stay on track. Even though there is a substitute teacher physically in the students’ classroom, Tanis is still delivering the content and lessons.
Amy Pallo, FHE principal, said, “We are grateful to Mr. Tanis for all he is doing and we thank him for his service to our country and our kids.”
The news story about Tanis serving his country and his students caught the attention of local news media, WZZM13, and FOX17. They collectively share the story of this remarkable teacher doing everything he can for his students while protecting and serving our country.
