Dear Forest Hills Families,
Thank you for your continued patience and support as we navigate launching a new school year in the midst of a pandemic. We continue to work closely with all of our employee groups, especially our teachers’ association, on how to implement all of the new protocols and required elements of operating school under Phase 4 of the MI Return to School Roadmap.
Consequently, we continue to work on more details of our draft Return to Learn Plan, and we look forward to releasing a draft of the full plan prior to the Board of Education meeting, which will be rescheduled for next week. Furthermore, prior to the Board taking action, we are planning two informational webinars for all interested families to share more specific information about the return to learn plan – one specifically about grades K-6 and the other about grades 7-12. These webinars will be recorded and posted for everyone to watch at their convenience. We will communicate dates and times of these webinars once they have been established.
In addition, we are committed to matching as many students as possible who wish to enroll in the virtual option for the semester with an FHPS teacher. Details are as follows:
- Grades 7-12
There may be some cases for students in grades 7-12 where it is not possible to match every student’s schedule of classes with an FHPS teacher. In these cases, we will utilize Michigan Virtual or Apex Learning for some courses in a student’s schedule. To learn more about Michigan Virtual and our details about the virtual learning option for grades 7-12, FHPS will hold a webinar August 6, at 2:30 p.m.

- Grades K-6
For grades K-6, your child’s principal will be reaching out to you about your interest in the virtual option and being paired up with an FHPS teacher. To learn more about our details on this virtual learning option for grades K-6, we have tentatively scheduled a webinar August 6, at 4:00 p.m.

Both webinars will be recorded and then posted on the FHPS website www.fhps.net.
We greatly appreciate your continued support as we prepare to launch the 2020-2021 academic year helping all learners achieve their individual potential.
