Dear Forest Hills Families:
Forest Hills Public Schools is offering a full-time virtual learning option for FHPS families who do not want their children to attend school for in-person instruction. This option is being offered, initially, for the first semester (August 31 to winter break) of the 2020-2021 school year. It will include an assigned FHPS teacher, access to district instructional resources, curriculum, and standards.* In the event that there is minimal interest in full-time virtual learning with an FHPS teacher, students will be partnered with a local provider and a Forest Hills mentor. If you are planning to have your child participate in the in-person option, you do not need to submit the form.
We will be providing two webinars about our virtual learning options—one for K-6 and one for 7-12. They are as follows:
- 7-12 Virtual Option Overview – Thursday, August 6, 2:30 p.m.
- K-6 Virtual Option Overview – Thursday, August 6, 4 p.m.
The webinars are limited to 1,000 attendees. We will record and post these webinars on the district website so families can view them at any time. In addition, we also have attached our one-page Return to Learn plan.
To enroll your child in the full-time virtual option for the first semester of the school year, please complete the FHPS VIRTUAL OPTION SIGN-UP form. You must complete the form separately for each child you are signing up for the full-time virtual option. All sign-ups for the virtual option must be submitted via the form by 5 p.m. Friday, August 14, 2020.
*Immersion students enrolling in the full-time virtual learning option will receive instruction from an FHPS immersion teacher in the target language. (A WMU professor will provide virtual instruction for 9th-12th grade Mandarin immersion students.)
