EHS students have been selected as finalists for the Grand Rapids Economics Club Essay Contest. Thirteen Eastern juniors spent the polar vortex writing a 10-page research paper about the impact of Career and Technical Education on the Grand Rapids Economy. Five of our students were finalists, out of over 200 entries, and received awards!
1st place: Kennedy Southland ($2,000.00 prize + gift certificate and membership to the YMCA)
2nd Place: Claire Verbrugge ($1,000.00 prize + gift certificate and membership to the YMCA)
Runners Up: Grant Centner, Sneha Rajagopalan, Lisha Chadda (Prize $250.00 each)
These finalists were invited to attend the Economics Club luncheon at the JW Marriott to hear Stephen Dubner speak about “Freakonomics.”
