Northern Hills Middle School seventh-graders spent an afternoon sharing stories they had written for their language arts class. The students wrote their own version of “The Day the Crayons Went to School and Beyond” which was modeled after books “The Day the Crayons Quit” and “The Day the Crayons Came Home” by Drew Daywalt. Students had a meet and greet the author day called “Tiny Paws Story Time” where they shared their books with siblings, neighbors, family and friends, and discussed the creating, writing, editing, illustrating, and publishing stages of their work. They also led coloring and craft activities for younger children. This was the public presentation of the students’ hard work through a project-based learning experience.
