It takes every person on the road to help keep students safe when they are going to and from a bus stop and in and around school zones. Here’s a quick reminder about bus safety and laws from the Michigan State Police. School buses are like traffic signals:
- Overhead lights are flashing yellow: Slow down and STOP.
- Overhead lights are flashing red: STOP.
- Hazard warning lights are flashing: SLOW DOWN, proceed with caution.
Please also slow down in or near school and residential areas and watch for children between parked cars and other objects. Also remember that middle school and high school students typically are waiting or walking to bus stops in the morning when it is still dark and visibility is reduced. Please slow down, be aware, watch for children, keep kids safe.
