Welcome to our Food Service Program!
The Forest Hills Food Service Department is dedicated to serving nutritious and healthy food every day to over 10,000 customers. Last year, Forest Hills Public Schools prepared, serviced and sold a total of 825,000 meals. In addition to the traditional way of paying for your student’s lunch with cash or check, Forest Hills Public Schools offers another alternative through Chartwells where you can create an online student account and manage your child’s lunch account from any Web browser.
Frequently Asked Questions:
Q: Where can I view my child’s school lunch menu?
Please click here to view the current month’s lunch menu.
Q: How much does lunch cost?
Elementary (Grades K-4): $2.45 (includes milk)
Secondary (Grades 5-12): $2.60 (includes milk)
Milk-only: $ .50
Adult: $3.60
Q: Why did I receive a letter stating my child’s lunch balance is low?
Research shows that children who are well fed learn better than students who are hungry. The food service staff strives to feed a nutritious lunch to each child every day.
Please help us make the lunchroom a fun place for your child by keeping an adequate balance in their lunch account to cover the meals they purchase. To help you ensure that your child has an adequate balance in their account, we will begin to send home a “LOW BALANCE” letter each week at the elementary level if the child’s account has fallen below $6. If the child’s balance falls into arrears, you will receive a “Negative Balance” letter each week, alerting you to please deposit funds as soon as possible so your child can continue to purchase lunch.

Dear Forest Hills Public Schools Families:
We are pleased to announce that we will begin using Meal Magic Corporation’s point-of-sale system in our school cafeterias. Meal Magic is a pre-paid system that provides convenience and accountability to our meal programs.
Your child will be given an “account” into which you may deposit money at any time and any monies from last year will be rolled over into his/her account. This account will allow your child to pay for meals or snacks. Also, Meal Magic gives you certain controls for monitoring and controlling your child’s spending and eating habits.
Meal Magic helps to prevent embarrassment that some children feel when they participate in the free- and reduced-meal program. All of the children’s accounts will look the same. As an added benefit you will be able to fill out your application for Free- and Reduced-Meal Benefits online using www.lunchapp.com. When using this site, you will no longer need to send in the paper application and in most cases your application will be evaluated in one business day or less. Once the application is reviewed, you will receive a letter indicating if the application was approved as free, reduced, or denied. Please be aware that any benefits will begin only after the food service representative has reviewed your application. Benefits cannot begin immediately as a determination of eligibility must be made. You will be responsible for any debts your child incurred before the application is approved. If you previously have an account for your child at Meal Time, you will need to set up a new account at sendmoneytoschool.com.
Additionally, Meal Magic will assist in providing better communications with you through sendmoneytoschool.com. By using this website you will be able to view your child’s account history, including seeing the items your child has purchased. In addition, you will be able to deposit money into your child’s account with your debit/credit card/e-checks and put limits on your child’s spending, if you so please. The structure for making online deposits is as follows:
E-Check
- This option is cheaper ($1)
- e-Funds for Schools charges a flat $1 fee
- There is a $750 transaction amount cap
Credit Card
- This option is more expensive ($1.95)
- e-Funds for Schools charges a $1.95 fee per $100
- There also is a flat $ .50 fee for multiple students
- There is no transaction amount cap
