Testing Out Information

Testing out is an opportunity for students to accelerate their curriculum. Students targeted are those who find a particular subject easy and enjoyable, which by testing out of a course gives them the opportunity to move into a more challenging course in that subject. Students must earn a minimum score of 77% to successfully test out of a course. Due to the purpose/philosophy of testing out, only credit is received (no letter grade). The purpose is to meet the requirement of a prerequisite and thus be able to move onto the next course in the sequence or to retrieve lost credit from a failed course.

Students must apply to test out of courses and may pick up the form in the Main Office after Spring Break. The deadline for forms to be turned in is May 23rd for both tests.

Dates for this summer’s testing out opportunities are:

June 20, 2013

August 15, 2013

$20.00 processing fee per test (returned after student attends testing date)

$50.00 refundable text book rental fee (returned after book is returned)

LUNCH DEBIT CARD END OF YEAR INFORMATION

In years past, when the school year ended, many students owed money for overcharges on their debit card account. The school district cannot carry negative balances over the summer.

To avoid this situation, after May 1, 2013 students will only be allowed to use their debit cards if there is enough in their account to cover the full amount of their purchase. Otherwise, they will be given a cold cheese sandwich meal. Money still in the account at the end of the school year is carried over to the next year, except for students leaving the district and graduates. You may request a refund for any remaining funds by submitting a letter requesting the refund to the district’s Food Service Department, or have the money transferred to a sibling’s account (by request only). You may reach the Food Service department via e-mail: at: cpratt@fhps.net or aadams@fhps.net.

Please keep a sufficient balance in your child’s account to cover his/her lunches through the end of the school year. Your help with this policy is greatly appreciated.

If you are unsure of your child’s debit card balance or have any questions regarding the lunch program or debit card system, please call the Food Service office at 493-8774, e-mail us or go online at www.sendmoneytoschool.com.

ABC Board and Members needed for 2013-14 School Year

Parents, if you are interested in serving on the Academic Booster Board or being on this committee please contact Tanya Muehlbauer : atmuehlbauer@comcast.net

All of the current board members have graduating Seniors. The Academic Boosters provides the Honor Roll breakfast, Mini-grants to teachers and scholarships to Seniors just to name a few ways that Academic Boosters impacts all students. We are in the process of deciding if we will hold an end of the year fund raiser but would like to make sure there is parent support in terms of a new Board and members.
